Programme Objectives
  • The Programme is designed to meet the needs of managers and other workers both in the private and public sectors with considerable experience in the field but are unable to leave their work place to engage in full- time study. The department has been receiving many applications from mature students from public and private sectors who are already engaged in professions such as banking, police, nurses, civil services, business managers and other privately owned businesses. These groups are desirous of enriching their knowledge in human behavior; enhance their job performance (productivity). The specific objectives of the Programme are to;
  • Provide course of instruction in Managerial Psychology/ Industrial - organizational Psychology;
  • Expose students to the basic principles concepts, approaches and methods of Psychology;
  • Expose students to the everyday application of Psychological techniques in improving managerial and organizational effectiveness;
  • Equip students with psychological tools required for the enhancement of their job as managers and supervisors
Admission Requirements
  • Admission to the programme is open to a graduate of any discipline from either Obafemi Awolowo University, or any other recognized University with at least Second Class (Lower Division) degree. Candidate must be at managerial level with at least three (3) years’ experience in a reputable Organization.
  • candidates must also meet the screening requirements of the Postgraduate College of Obafemi Awolowo University
The Degree to be offered
Master of Manageria Psychology (M.MPsych)
Conditions for the Award of the Degree
The degree of EMMPsych will be awarded to a candidate who has satisfactorily completed their course of instruction totaling 46 units comprising 30 units of compulsory courses, 12 units of elective courses and 4 units of research project. In addition, candidate must satisfy all other requirements stipulated in the regulation of the Postgraduate College of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
Duration
The programme will cover four semesters which will include course work and three months of Industrial Practicum. Lectures will hold at weekends. Each course shall have two hours of lecture for 15 weeks per semester.
