Welcoming the Class of 2024/2025: A Memorable Matriculation Ceremony at OAU

Today, Friday, January 24, 2025, marked a significant milestone for new students as the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) held its matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session. The event took place at the iconic Amphi Theatre on the OAU campus, bringing together students from both the traditional face-to-face programmes and the university’s Distance Learning Programme.

The ceremony, which began promptly at 9:00 AM, was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A. S. Bamire, who extended a warm welcome to all matriculating students. Accompanied by other principal officers of the university, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the significance of the event as the formal induction of these students into the OAU community.

In attendance were the Director of the Centre for Distance Learning (CDL), Prof. O. A. Koya, and the Administrative Secretary, Mr. T. O. Faniran. The new students were congratulated and encouraged to embrace the university’s culture of academic excellence. The students — whether enrolled in the traditional face-to-face mode or the flexible distance learning option — were assured of the university’s commitment to providing a supportive and enriching academic experience.

The atmosphere at the Amphi Theatre was one of celebration and hope as students and faculty came together to mark the beginning of an exciting journey for the new class. The matriculation ceremony underscored OAU’s dedication to inclusivity, welcoming learners from diverse academic pathways and reaffirming its reputation as a hub for academic and personal growth.

Congratulations to the Class of 2024/2025! Whether you are attending classes on campus or participating via the Distance Learning Programme, we wish you a rewarding and successful academic journey at OAU. Welcome to the family!
